High School STEAM program - Aquaponics will link together the high school Inventions Lab class with the Life Skills Class via creation of an aquaponics farm. When in place, students of the Inventions Lab class will design, build and mechanically maintain an aqua-pond while the students in the Special Education program will grow the plants, raise the fish and maintain the integrity of the pond itself. This two-fold goal allows the Invention students to learn the concepts of engineering while the Special Education students are given an opportunity to learn hard and soft work place skills. The pond will also serve as a method of instruction for other classes and grades within the district.
